Koizora is a 2007 romance and coming-of-age film directed by Natsuki Imai based on the novel of the same name by Mika. A loose adaptation of the novel, it stars Yui Aragaki and Haruma Miura as Mika and Hiro respectively, two high school students who fall in love and encounter many hardships including rape and miscarriage.
Filming for the movie took place on April 23, 2007. The movie debuted at #3 in theaters on November 3, 2007 with a box office of 3.9 billion yen and an audience of 3.1 million people upon its release.
Aragaki Yui plays Mika Tahara, an ordinary high school student who falls in love with Hiro and finds her experiences in love to be one of the most wonderful feelings in the world.
Miura Haruma plays Hiroki Sakurai, nicknamed "Hiro", a former delinquent notable by his dyed hair. He later discovers he has cancer and stages a disinterest in Mika so as not to make her sad.
Koide Keisuke plays Yū Fukuhara, a college student from the Kansai region who becomes Mika's emotional support after Hiro breaks up with her.
